As with most things nutritional, it depends on the person.
What you eat in the morning (after a period of fasting) determines the majority fuel source the body will look for during the waking hours. So a (relatively) higher fat breakfast will result in a greater percentage of fatty acids burned for energy throughout the day.
So for people who are overweight, skinny-fat and/or have sedentary lifestyles (office jobs etc) this is generally what they want: a breakfast based around protein, fat and fibre (e.g. cheese omelette with veg and maybe a bit of lower-carb fruit), in a portion size appropriate to their bodyweight.
For athletes or very active people a carby breakfast is better, as bodyfat isn't usually an efficient source of energy for them. (Yes there are some athletes who follow ketogenic diets but they're in the minority, and generally outperformed by athletes who eat carbohydrates)
A protein-only breakfast i.e. just having egg whites or protein powder isn't a good choice either. Protein can be fairly insulinogenic, and in the absence of other fuels will be converted to glucose and used as carbohydrates would be (inefficiently).
Conversely a fat-only breakfast (e.g. black coffee with coconut oil/butter/cream - popular among the paleo/crossfit zealots in the US) gives a good fat burning effect but taken alone can result in a poor lipid profile over time.

My top 5 cereals:
1. Corn Flakes 2. Scott's Porridge Oats 3. Shredded Wheat 4. Rice Krispies 5. Sugar Puffs
Never get time to eat breakfast in mornings so tend to eat cereal in the afternoon or evening when I can appreciate it. This is probably considered to be weird but there you go.

My dad always told me that milk and a whole grain made a protein, not sure if he was lying so he didn't have to buy us bacon or not.

It was porridge, 4 days cracked wheat, 2 days oatmeal, during the week growing up, so we looked forward to cereal Sunday.
But real Rice Krispies were usually too high horse and bad for us. Puffed Wheat, Shredded Wheat, sometimes Shreddies and rarely "Crispy Rice."

Woody if you're goals are 'not being a fat cunt' then better to have 4x eggs with no toast than 2x eggs with 2x toast. People (usually fat ones0 will think you are strange, however so be warned

Re: Rice Krispies

what makes me die is that so many people eat cereal for breakfast. Not because they like it or because its a balanced meal but because its marketed as something you have for breakfast. Fucking idiotic sheep. They just do it because thats what you do.
I have a bowl of shredded wheat in the afternoon as a pre workout snack, people think its hilarious and can't get their heads round it...
